Teach Soap

I am new to the CP Process and am looking at things that I would like to do as I better myself as a soapmaker. I would love to do Salt Bars. I was also thinking that it would be fun to do little Salt Scrub Merigues... Does anyone have any recipies or tips on making a batch that would be pipeable???

I don't have any experience making salt bars but I think the idea of making meringue soaps is really cute

For the amount of salt for my salt bars, I use 50% salt. It's regular table salt. I tried sea salt, but it made my soaps weep.

I just made a batch for the first time and I used 70% sea salt..my bars have not weep..theyre actually just getting harder..and I had no crumbling..maybe different brands cause the soaps to weep?

I haven't found a recipe for pipeable salt bars, so I am going to use a basic soap bar recipe. I am going to experiment with fine salt and not as much as a regular bar. Hopefully that will do what I am imagining... I will post pics when I figure it out! LOL

Speaking of salt bars...

I've watched a few videos (soaping 101 SF @10%) and read a lot on here so I'm wanting to make a small batch. Irena, you've mentioned that you use 100% coconut oil with a 20% SF (like what I've put in). I sure trust you rather than the numbers that SoapCalc is showing.

Are the numbers always this crazy?

Am I doing this correctly?

Yes, the numbers look crazy, but it looks fine to me. Since this is a small recipe, go by the grams.

SweetPea, that was exactly my reaction the first time I made 100% coconut oil soap with 20%SF. I thought I was crazy to try it because the numbers were so weird! It does made a really nice bar, though.
