Hey all,
I have a question about castile soap. I'm interested in making this soap for now because I know it can be turned into shampoo as well. My question is: if I want to make shampoo out of a batch of homemade castile soap do I still have to wait for it to cure or can I use it right away?
Thank you

Do you mean bar or liquid?

For the bar, I'd wait.

Unless you make the soap as a liquid with potassium hydroxide, solid bar of soap made into a liquid won't give you bubbles and will be very snotty.

I tried to make liquid soap with store-bought bar soap once, with the heated soap shreds in hot water deal. It was outrageously awful. It was worse than snot.

I have been using a bar on my hair that has a high percentage of olive oil, with a little coconut and even less castor. It's really great on my skin. Need to use it for a few more days to see how it works for my hair, but so far, it seems pretty good.

Also, I had to let these bars cure for about 3 months before using them, because of the high percentage of olive oil. I think they will be even better yet after another 3 months.
