Teach Soap

My husband made me a 12" tall mold out of 3" PVC pipe. Should I coat the mold with anything prior to pouring my CP soap into it? Should I pour at light or medium trace? We are using a 2" pipe w/cap to push the soap out. I tried lining the mold with parchment paper (thought I was being smart) but that didn't work, the soap wrapped around the paper on one end, and it was a mess (made soap balls with the messy stuff). I really like this shape and size, and I did get some pretty bars from this mold (YAY!) Oh, and BB Lavendar Green Tea FO is FANTASTIC!! My kitchen smells wonderful!

It's nice to have someone that supports you. PVC pipes need to have freezer paper or even those plastic inserts that you can find online via esty. As for batter consistency, it all depends what you are trying to achieve. If you want swirls, or rings, a thinner batter is ideal because you have more time.

If you are using parchment paper, line it against the natural curl it has. Hmm, there is no easy way to explain that. The paper has the tendency to curl because it is wound into a roll. I found that if I wind it the other way, it expands in the pipe and doesn't curl in on itself as much. When I use freezer paper, I change the orientation so that the curl isn't an issue.

Wish I'd thought of that . Now I can't wait to try again. I really like the round bars the PVC mold makes! Thanks for your help.

Or you can coat the inside of the pipe with mineral oil since it won't saponify.
