Teach Soap

I was wondering what the "safe" percentage rates are for using castor oil in CP soap recipes.

I think most of us use it at about 5% in our recipes, but you can go higher for shampoo bars.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I use it at between 5-8%, in my regular recipe. If you use too much there's a sticky, draggy feeling when using the soap.
In my coconut salt bars, I use 10-15% of castor though.

Ok thanks guys!

I just started using a bar (made 4.5 wks ago) with the following recipe:

20% Castor oil
20% Coconut oil
60% Palm oil

The thing is hard as a rock! All of the soap bar quality numbers are right in the middle of SoapCalc ranges, with the exception of the creamy lather - that is over the max.

Its a nice bar - not sticky at all.

Up to 5% here as well.
