I'm picking things out for 2 new orders, 1 BB & 1 NG. I want to try swirling, so I need non-bleeding colors, and I am having serious trouble finding what I want, so I wondered if anybody has recommendations for me? The plan is single color swirls in titanium whitened soap. I'd love to get something from BB, since I'm ordering from them anyway, but I am getting frustrated, & suggestions from other places would be awesome too. Here's what I want:

Bright fire truck red for Wintery Candy Apple

Deep, dark purple for Black Raspberry Vanilla

Yellow green for Margarita

Bright orange for Jungle Love (not locked in on this one, other color ideas welcome!)

Crayon/grass green for Lettuce

Thanks in advance! :D

Labcolors are awesome, but, of course, bleeding. Wondering though, if it's a single color swirl, could I just use less colored soap than I would otherwise, and let the swirls have faded edges instead of sharp? Would that work, or would the whole bar turn colored anyway?

If you use a color that bleeds, over time that color will migrate into other parts of your soap. Did you check out BrambleBerry's non bleeding micas?

Yeah, I spent almost an hour reading through all the micas, because mica is what my first thought was, but I'm having trouble finding ones that 1) won't bleed, 2) are bright enough, and 3) stay true in CP. Seems like every red is either not recommended for CP or goes pink, orange, or peach. The closest I see for red are Merlot Sparkle or Coral, but I don't think they are the primary, bright red I am after. Similar problems with the other colors, and I have heard that most oranges morph. :(

TKB Trading had a Colorona Bordeau (I think that's the one) that was as red as you could get for CP soap. True, bright red is very difficult to achieve in CP soap. If you actually get the red bright enough, then use it, it will look like you are bleeding and so is the tub or anything else that touches it.

Thanks! And also, LOL! I can just see it now! Hubby: "Omg, Honey, did you just cut yourself shaving your legs?" Me: "Nope, that's just my soap." Could be used for horror movie re-creations maybe, like Psycho shower scene. :?

For the red, Hestey recently showed us Nature's Garden's Tomato Red liquid colorant that might work for you. You can find her photo somewhere in the CP showcase.

For the purple, you'll most likely need to mix two colors together. I mix ultraviolet purple (or lavender, can't remember what it's called, from BB) and ultramarine blue pigments from BB.

I love TKB's Neon Green pigment, that would be close.

For orange, BB's Tangerine Wow pigment.

For that green, I would try TKB's chromium oxide green. It's more of a kelly green, where BB's is darker.

Hope that helps!!

While on the color topic, anyone know how much is too much TD? I have used it 3 times, only once did I get a real white and that batch was a little bit crumbly which I think was because I used to much trying to acheive 'white'. My latest batch I used a .15cc scoop and put in 2 for about a pound of soap and then put 2 of the same scoop of my green oxide in the other half of the batter and it looked ok!

I've never noticed TD making my soap crumbly, and I use a bit more than that. I think usually the biggest problems with TD are splotches or glycerin rivers (?) if you use too much or if soap gets too hot. (I've not experienced either of those, someone correct me if I am wrong!) But if those measurements worked for you, by all means stick with it!
