Soothing Avocado Foot Balm

Recipe submitted by Jennifer of Jennifer’s Handmade Soap

I love foot balm but I’m not a fan of digging it out of a jar. So I started to make foot “tabs” instead. These store easily in tin jars and are easy to remove, cup in your hand and massage into your feet.

Ingredients
1.5 oz. Shea Butter
1 oz. Avocado Butter
1 oz. Avocado Oil
.75 oz. White Beeswax
2-3 ml Fragrance Oil

Equipment
Glass Measuring Cup
Sauce Pan (or microwave safe bowl)
(4) 2 ounce tins or (1) 4 oz Plastic Jar

Step 1: Fill your sauce pan with about an inch of water. Set it to a low boil. Measure out your Shea butter, avocado butter and beeswax in a glass measuring cup. If you prefer, you can melt it in the microwave on thirty second increments. (This should take about 2 minutes total to fully melt).

Step 2: Add avocado oil and fragrance oil to the hot liquid. After mixing pour into four 1.5 ounce molds. You can use any type you want. If you don’t want “tabs” then you can pour the mixture into a 4 ounce jar. Let it cool completely.

Note: I find it helps to put the cooled balm in the freezer for about 15 minutes. Let it sit for a minute after removing from the freezer and then the tabs should pop right out.

Directions: Massage into feet, heels, knees and elbows (or any other rough spot). Please note this mixture is greasy so I suggest putting socks on after use or using right before bed.
